WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE DOING IN FIVE YEARS?: Living in the Bahamas with a fabulously wealthy dumb sexy blonde super model who thinks I'm the greatest thing since sliced bread. Actually, I'd like to be doing that now.

A VISIT TO A DIFFERENT SCHOOL..

Last year I went on a trip to Mar del Plata for ENELL ("Encuentro Nacional de
Estudiantes de Letras y Lenguas"). During that trip I met a lot of interesting
people and went to many colourful and incredible places. One of those places is
that I'm going to tell you about. It was a very small school in Sierra de Los
Padres. It didn't have many students but was still a place to remember. Students
attending the school were not ordinary students. Most of them came from
Bolivian families who didn't speak Spanish. The rest of the students came from
aborigin families or with aborigin backgrounds. So the question is...
How was it possible for a teacher to teach any subject having such an
obstacule as the language itself? Well, apparently that was not a problem
for the teachers at this school who started (long time ago) to work with this
differences. They started by translating simple words or phrases from aborigin
languages into Spanish and sharing them with the whole group. Later on, they
decided to start asking students about their customs and traditions and
eventually organized festivals for students to show their traditional dances and
foods. However, integration was not as easy as it seems since many parents
refused to accept their cultural background- some even were ashamed of it- but
now, thanks to the hard work of these teachers a commited and integrated
community has emerged.

I thought that this experience I had last year was quite meaningful for me and I hope you feel the same. If you have had any experiences that you'd like to share with everyone please write an e-mail with your story and I'll add it to the blog. Thank you!
